So, what is Makaton? -
Makaton is a language programme that gives everyone a helping hand to communicate.
It is a language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression. The Makaton language programme has been used with individuals who have cognitive impairments, autism, Down syndrome, specific language impairments, multi-sensory impairments and acquired neurological disorders that have negatively affected the ability to communicate, including stroke patients.

​Is Makaton taught exclusively online? -
Makaton training can be taught face-to-face in any setting, or online. Please check the course info. tab for current online courses. Contact me at karensoehnle@hotmail.com to arrange face-to-face training.

What is Norfolk Makaton Tuition? -
Norfolk Makaton Tuition is an educational training company. My vision is to work in partnership with parents, carers, and workers who will find the use of Makaton beneficial in their everyday life or workplace. This can be all aspects of education, retail, customer services....the list is endless.

How many can you teach? -
Up to 12 people online, or 15 face-to-face.

Makaton can benefit any business and educational setting where communication is key to becoming an inclusive environment.
Families can also be taught Makaton. This is especially useful for communication with family members with learning difficulties and covers all generations of learners
